Bruichladdich 12 Year Old Tasting Notes
Tasting notes by Jim McEwan MBE
Colour: Amber or burnished gold.
Aromas: Opens beautifully on a fruity mellow oak combination underpinned by the sweetness of unpeated barley with just a drift of marine freshness from its time maturing on the Coast of Heaven. At this age it’s that Islay DNA that frames the beautiful fruity overture from the Banyuls cask.
Palate: The flavour combinations are as one. After 12 years of seasonal movement within the cradle of oak they are transformed into a spirit that is truly unique. Splendidly fresh & succulent the malt extract provides a toffee sweetness that works beautifully with the wine influence to produce an outstanding spirit. Bruichladdich casks are all stored on Islay close to the Atlantic Ocean and we believe that makes the spirit’s DNA 100% Hebridean.
About this Dramfool release
The 68th Dramfool release, and first in their new look livery. A fully matured 12 year old first-fill Banyuls Barrique Bruichladdich! A very rare cask with only a small handful of single casks ever released before. Including Dramfool's Jim McEwan Journeys End 1 which got such rave reviews.
Bottled at cask strength of 57.5%. and one of only 292 bottles, no chill filtration (of course) and all natural colour (of course!). As with Dramfool's previous Bruichladdich bottlings, this meets Jim McEwan’s exacting standard from his time in charge of the distillery and bears the McEwan Legacy mark showing his seal of approval.
A wonderful whisky to launch our new look.
